Obituary - Dr. Frank Lindsey Ladd, 74, of Blytheville, died Thursday, July 22, 2004, at Baptist Memorial Hospital East in Memphis. Born October 9, 1929, in Wilmar to Lindsey and Marguerite Moore Ladd, both educators, he was a lifelong educator. He graduated from the University of Arkansas at Monticello with a BA in history and where he lettered in basketball and baseball. He received his M. Ed. from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and his Ed. D. from the University of Mississippi. Dr. Ladd served as superintendent of Banks, Holly Springs, MS, and Hope schools and retired as superintendent of the Blytheville Public Schools. Dr. Ladd was a longtime resident of Blytheville and a member of First United Methodist Church and an active member of the Rotary Club.
Survivors include his wife, Mattie Lou Crossley Ladd; a daughter, the Rev. Katie Margaret Ladd of Seattle, WA; stepchildren, Lucretia Ann Little of Springdale and Frank Huffty of Bastrop, LA; a brother, Robert Moore Ladd; a sister, Mary Margaret Givens; and three grandchildren.
Grave-side services were at 3 p.m. Monday, July 26, at the Snyder Cemetery with the Reverend Bill Williams officiating. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or First United Methodist Church of Blytheville.
