Grief deep and broad swept over Pea Ridge on the 11th of October when the telegram came announcing the death of Otto Miller at the Base Hospital, Camp Pike. He with 93 others from Benton county had on the 5th of Sept. answered the call of our country to go there for military training. On the fourth of October he took influenza, followed by pneumonia, and after seven days of suffering answered the summons of a Better World. A few hours before his death his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. A.C. Miller, his brother, Victor, his aunt Pearl and Miss Lela Walker of Pea Ridge arrived at the Base Hospital to see him. Otto Miller was born at Pea Ridge December 22, 1896 and had spent his years with his father and mother at that place. He had taken most of his high school course in the Pea Ridge Masonic school and was ever one among the best of his classes. His good conduct, courteous and pleasing manners and faithful application to duty commended him to all his teachers and school mates and these traits combined with a loving disposition formed an attachment at his home stronger than exists in most families. He made a profession of religion some years ago and was a faithful and consistent member of the Pea Ridge Presbyterian church. His death is a severe affliction to his loved ones and friends but their loss is his gain. His remains were buried at Buttram’s Chapel, Rev. Yancey of Rogers officiating. S.C. Parish, Wilson, Ark. Oct. 28, 1918
