Charles Farmer Pitts, 79, of Pea Ridge died March 7, 1995, at Rogers Rehabilitation and Living Center. He was born Jan. 20, 1916, at Pea Ridge to Charles Pitts and Phebe Buttram Pitts.
He was a veteran of World War II where he served in the U.S. Army as a Technician Fifth Grade. He received the European, African and Middle Eastern Campaign Medals, the Army of Occupation Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.
He was employed by Aramco & Bechtel where he was a material supply and traffic coordinator worki ng in Saudi Arabia, Tripoli, and Libya for 30 years. He was a Methodist, a member of the Duplicate Bridge Club, American Contract Bridge League, and the Elks Lodge.
He is survived by his wife, Yolanda Pitts of the home; three sons, Ronald Pitts of Hawthorne, Calif., Robert Pitts of Hawaii, and Mark Pitts of Pea Ridge; two daughters, Mary Kathryn Lewis of Santa Ana, Calif., and Suzanne Rizzolo of Van Nuys, Calif.; four brothers, Felix Pitts of Kansas City, Kan., Robert Pitts of t. Joseph, Mo., Joe Pitts of Pea Ridge, and Hugh Pitts of Eldorado Springs, Mo.; a sister, Helen Arnn of Indianapolis, Ind.; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was March 10 at the United Methodist Church in Pea Ridge with the Rev. Wesley Hilliard.
Cremation and funeral arrangements were under the direction of Sisco Funeral Home of Pea Ridge

PEA RIDGE — Yolanda Jean Postestio Pitts, resident of Pea Ridge since 1979, died at her home of lung cancer, Jan. 21, 2005, Yolanda, an avid reader, served eight years on the Pea Ridge Library Board, acting for part of that time as president. Widow of Pea Ridge native, Charles Farmer Pitts, Yolanda was 83.
"She was a loving, generous person," said daughter Mary Kathryn Pitts Lewis of Santa Ana, Calif. "Everybody loved Mom, and she treated everyone with grace and a delicate tact."
Yolanda was born in 1921 in Helper, Utah, although she moved at an early age to Pittsburgh. In her teens, she moved to Los Angeles, later working as a sales clerk for JC Penney. Meeting Charles Pitts, she married him five days later in Reno, Nev., on April 3, 1951. He took his bride to live in Saudi Arabia, where he was employed in the oil industry.
Two of Yolanda's children were born in Arabia; Mary Kathryn Pitts Lewis and Pea Ridge resident Mark Steven Pitts, now a deputy for the Benton County Sheriff's Office. A third child, Suzanne Kaye Pitts Rizzolo, was born in Aspen, Col., in 1962 when the family returned to the United States for several years. Yolanda also helped raise two stepsons, Ronald Pitts and Robert Pitts.
Tn 1966, Charles and Yolanda relocated to Tripoli, Libya. They were later evacuated from the country on a C-130 cargo plane during the Sixty-Day War and also experienced the military coup that put Col. Muammar al-Quaddafi in power. During these years, Yolanda traveled extensively throughout the Middle East and Europe.
She and Charles returned to Pea Ridge in retirement to care for Charles's mother, Phebe Buttram Pitts. Yolanda also helped to bring up three granddaughters born of son Mark and Cindy Pitts Vickers; Charlye Pitts Key, Jeffie David Pitts, and Hahnalee Meagan Rachel Pitts. Yolanda had three other grandchildren; Alec Kieran Lewis, Harrison Niall Lewis, and Miranda Lee Rizzolo, all California residents. Moreover, Yolanda is survived by five sisters, Mary Potestio Simpson of Glendale, Calif., Dorothy Potestio Perry of Los Angeles, Lerna Perry Colca of El Monte, Calif., Mary Centofante and Connie Donovan of Palos Verdes, Calif., and Lerina Perry Colca of El Monte, Calif.; one brother, Orlanda Perry. predeceased her.
A lifelong Catholic, Yolanda was a member of St. Stephen's parish in Bentonville.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, at St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Bentonville with Father Michael Sinkler officiating. Cremation and arrangements are by Sisco Funeral Home of Pea Ridge.
