MELBOURNE - Jerry Tate, 61, of Melbourne died today, Dec. 19, 2003, at his home.
Born Sept. 16, 1942, at Gid, he was the son of Jewel and Zada Twilley Tate. He was a grocery store owner, a member of the Melbourne Masonic Lodge and a member of the New Bethel Free Will Baptist Church.
Survivors include his mother; his wife, Valena Tate; two sons, Chuck Tate of Melbourne and Roger G. Tate of Cave City; two daughters, Tammy Brock of Concord and Robin Anderson of Melbourne; a brother, Terry Tate of Bandmill; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Reeves Pine Grove Chapel with Vince Daniel officiating. Burial will be in Reeves Cemetery under the direction of the Roller Crouch Funeral Home of Melbourne.
Pallbearers will be Tim McGill, Casey Tate, Kelly Anderson, Jonathan Starnes, Michael Starnes, Jim Haley, Kenny Morrison and Sonny Brooks.
Honorary pallbearers are the New Bethel Free Will Baptist Church.
Visitation is from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday.
