Bessie Grigsby Melton, 79, of Batesville passed away on Wednesday, March 30, 2005 at White River Medical Center.
Bessie was born on April 10, 1925 in Guion, Arkansas and was the daughter of the late William Hanford Grigsby and Ida Lee (Clark) Grigsby. She was a retired sales clerk at Wal-Mart. Mrs. Melton was a member of the Cushman Assembly of God.
She is survived by her son, Dean Martin of Cushman; three daughters, Juanita Dunegan of Batesville, Ida Mae Rawlings of Cave City, and Vicki Moffitt, also of Batesville. Two brothers, Joe Grigsby of Oxford and Ben Grigsby of Cushman, and two sisters, Laura Younger of Louisiana and Bernice Crawford of Batesville also survive her. Bessie is also survived by six grandchildren, Rodney Melton, Carla Lawrence, Jody Dunegan, Sherry Gilmore, Brandi Stout and Tina Moffitt and nine great-grandchildren.
Her parents preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be at 10 AM of Friday at the Cushman Assembly of God with Reverend Carl Blankenship officiating.
Pallbearers will be Jody Dunegan, Freddy Dunegan, Anthony Gilmore, Rodney Melton, Chester Melton, and James Melton. Honorary pallbearers will be Jace Dunegan, Landen Gilmore and Jarrett Gilmore.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 PM on Thursday.
Burial will be at Reeves Cemetery in Guion under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville.
