John was born Aug. 30, 1860 Died Dec. 16, 1930

Wilmar, Dec. 17--(Special)--Funeral services were held today for John N. Hamilton, 70, from the family residence here. Burial was in Greenhill Cemetery.

John was born in Warren to Samuel S. Hamilton, (born in 1811 in Virginia) and Caroline Hickman (born in 1824, in Montgomery Co., Alabama). (Samuel & Caroline married in 1850). John married Lula Evora Hunt on May 24th, 1887, in Drew County.

John had a cancer on his nose in later life, and always wore a kerchief over his nose.

Mr. Hamilton died here yesterday. He is survived by his wife, Lula Hunt; two sons, Jesse Samuel Columbus Hamilton of Warren and Leslie Hamilton of California; four daughters; Mrs. Homer Reynolds of New Orleans, Mrs. C.E. Major of Kilbourne, LA, Mrs. Erie Ferguson of Warren and Miss Dilsey Hamilton of Wilmar.

Lula was born Aug 18, 1871 Died Mar. 23, 1948

Mrs. Lula Hamilton Godwin, 76, widow of the late R.W. Godwin of Warren, and of John N. Hamilton of Wilmar, died Tuesday at the Hunt Hospital. She had failed to regain consciousness following a stroke suffered at her home Wednesday of last week.

She was a member of the Baptist Church. A daughter of Jesse and Anice Smith Hunt, she was born in Ashley county August 18, 1871. Her father was a native of Bradley county and her mother of Georgia. Two sons and four daughters survive;

Jesse S. Hamilton of Warren, Leslie Hamilton of San Jose, California, Mrs. Bessie Ferguson of Warren, Mrs. Nina Reynolds of Texarkana, Mrs. Delle Major and Miss. Dee Hamilton of Kilbourne, Louisiana; twelve grandchildren also survive.

Services were held Wednesday at 4 p.m. from the Frazer Funeral Home with Rev. Keith Babb, pastor of the Immanuel Baptist Church officiating. Burial was at Greenhill Cemetery. Pallbearers were Everett Ferguson, Charles Ferguson, Hamilton Ferguson, Thad Godwin, Bill Godwin, Pete Godwin, and Don Major. Honorary bearers were Laurence Hurley and Ray Chatham. Those in charge of floral arrangements were Evora Hamilton, Mary Elizabeth Langley, and Reva Jean Ferguson.

Inscription: ASLEEP IN JESUS BLESSED THOUGHT.
