Alvie L. Atkins, DSN 5194, was commissioned as a Police Officer on 06/15/1964. Officer Atkins served in the 4Th, and 1St Districts. He was also in the following specialized units; Bureau of Field Operations, Police Academy, Bureau of Investigation, Correspondence Investigation Division, and the Prisoner Processing Division. He retired on 08/27/1988 with a total of 19.53 years of service.

Pocahontas - Alvie Lee Atkins, 78, passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at Advanced Care Hospital in Searcy.
Born September 17, 1932 in Okean to the late Homer E and Mary E Atkins.
He is also preceded in death by wife Frieda Atkins, four brothers and one grandchild.
He is survived by three sons; Gary, Virgil and John Atkins. Two daughters; Cheryl Atkins and Linda Siscel, 4 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Two brothers; Ralph and Danny Atkins and dear friend, Mary.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 27, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of McNabb Funeral Home with Terry Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Masonic Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Friday night from 4-8:00 p.m.

Frieda Jean Atkins, 73, died Feb. 4, 2007, at her home in Piedmont, Mo. She was born Feb. 24, 1933, in Ellsinore, Mo., daughter of Lucille (Young) Kitchen, who survives and resides in Poplar Bluff, and the late Thomas Leach. She was married to Alvie Lee Atkins. He survives and resides in Piemont. Mrs. Atkinins was a homemaker. In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons, Gary, Virgil and John Atkins, all of St. Louis; two daughters, Cheryl Portell, Linda Siscel, both of St. Louis; three sisters, Mickie Mueller, Carol Hilderbrand, both of St. Louis, Nancy McCoy, California; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by one son, Douglas Atkins. The funeral was held Feb. 8 at Chapel of McNabb Funeral Home, Pocahontas, Ark.,with Melvin Shelton officiating. Pallbearers were Brian Portell, Tony Atkins, Mike Atkins, Ken Atkins, Tim Siscel and Scott Atkins. Burial was in Masonic Cemetery, Pocahontas, Ark.
