Obituary - Mr. Floyd Byron Cook, 58, of Hamburg died Tuesday, October 4, 2005, at the St. Vincent Infirmary Medical Center in Little Rock. A native of Monticello and a lifelong resident of Hamburg, he retired from the Ashley Chicot Electric Cooperative in 1998 after 30 years of service. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Hamburg.
Survivors are two daughters, Sheila Keener and Kim "MiMi" Hammett and husband, Steve, all of Heflin, LA; a son, Josef Cook of Monroe, LA; two brothers, Kenneth Cook and wife Rosalie of Houston, TX, and Jerry Cook and wife, Jo, of Harrisburg, PA; two sisters, Barbara Wells of Memphis and Sue White and husband Robert of El Dorado and five grandchildren, Chris, Stephanie, Becky, Seth and Nick. He was preceded in death by his parents, Basil and Lorene Spoonts Cook and an infant sister.
A memorial service was held at 10 a.m., Saturday, October 8, in the chapel of Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home in Hamburg with Rev. Gary Harrison officiating. Honorary pallbearers were David and Keith Ladd, Joe Hilburn, Harvey Allison, Gerald Lauhon, Willie Claude Kelley and Sam Pruitt. Cremation arrangements were by Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church Youth Department, 202 South Main, Hamburg, AR 71646.
