SPRINGDALE — Grace Lucinda Whelchel, 94, of Springdale died Aug. 18, 2000, at Northwest Medical Center in Springdale.
She was born Feb. 7, 1906, in Pettigrew to Peter Johnson and Nancy C. Williams Minks.
She was retired from Ryan's Department Store and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Elmdale Baptist Church, both of Springdale.
She enjoyed canning, gardening and quilting.
Survivors include four sons, Forrest Whelchel of Rogers, Clifton Whelchel of Anaheim, Calif., James D. Whelchel and Grayson P. Whelchel, both of Springdale; two daughters, Mary Whelchel of Springdale and Clara Lou Hughes of Sacramento, Calif.; one sister, Maude Curtis of Benton; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Sisco Chapel in Springdale with the Rev. Tom Shaw officiating. Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery.
Visitation begins at 9 a.m. today at the funeral home.
