Claudia Mae Arnold Ferguson of Melbourne, daughter of the late William T. Arnold and Rena Stroud Arnold, was born June 24, 1923, in Guion, Ark. She died Sept. 6, 2003, at Pioneer Nursing and Rehab in Melbourne, Ark., at the age of 80 years. She married Vernon M. Ferguson on Feb. 5, 1944, in Gid, Ark., and to this union three children were born. She spent her working years, employed at ConAgra.
Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law -- Don and Diane Ferguson of Mount Pleasant, Ark., and Ronnie Ferguson of Mount Pleasant, a daughter and son-in-law -- Betty and Roger Campbell of Mount Pleasant; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; six brothers and three sisters.
A graveside service was Sept. 8 at Reeves Cemetery with Billy Brooks officiating. Interment was in Reeves Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne.
Pallbearers were Russell Evans, Phil Ferguson, Elliott Sampley, Jordan Hutchins, Seth Brooks, and Bryan McTigue.
Honorary pallbearers were Michael Evans, Zack Ferguson, Zane Ferguson, Corey Ferguson, Trey Hill, Tyler Hill, Josh Howard, Blake Howard, Jesse Sampley and Jacob Sampley.
