White River Currant
W.A. "Jack" Edwards of Mount Pleasant, son of the late Dick and Mary Hurley Edwards, was born December 5, 1914. He died June 29, 2000 at his residence. He was 85.
Mr. Edwards was united in marriage to Vania Brooks Edwards for 60 years. He wa retired from White Lime Company. He served with the U.S. Army in Normandy during World War II. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Mount Pleasant for 53 years.
Survivors include his wife, Vania Brooks Edwards of the home; three sons, Conny Edwards of Gainesville, Florida; Ronny Edwards of Gainesville, Florida and Thomas Edwards of Mount Pleasant; one daughter, Shay Lee of Mount Pleasant; seven grandchildren, David Edwards, Tammy Lindsey, Chad Edwards, Scott Stine, Kyle Edwards, Cassie Stine, Melissa Kaufman, five step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren Jessica Lindsey and Hunter Edwards; five nieces and nephews and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Willie Edwards, Owen Edwards and Claude Edwards; two sisters, Nora Edwards and Cora Edwards and his parents.
Funeral services were held July 1, 2000 at First Baptist Church of Mount Pleasant with Reverend Lee Cording officiating. Pallbearers were D.R. Edwards, Quillen Edwards, Tim Edwards, Keith Grimes, Ronny Love and Gary Sims. Honorary pallbearers were R.W. Hollowell, King Ogilive, Don Edwards, Phillip Edwards, Matt Edwards and Nathan Caraway.
Interment was in Reeves Cemetery under the direction of Roller-crouch Funeral Home of Melbourne.

Vania Helen Brooks Edwards, 91, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Friday, September 9, at her home in Mt. Pleasant at the age of 92.
She was born April 24, 1925, in Lafferty to Richard and Dona Brooks.
She is survived by three sons, Conny Edwards of Gainesville, Florida, Ronny Edwards of Micanopy, Florida, Thomas Edwards of Melbourne; one daughter, Shay Lee of Mt. Pleasant; and a host of other relatives and many good friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and two sisters.
Funeral services were September 13, 2016, at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant with Bro. Elvis Sneathern officiating. Interment was at Reeve's Cemetery.
