Charles M. Sparks, 69, of Greers Ferry, passed away Sunday, June 28, 2009. Charles was born in Augusta, Arkansas on February 26, 1940 to the late Author and Lucille Sparks. He was also preceded in death by brothers John Author Sparks and James Robert Sparks. He was a cement contractor, working in California and Arkansas, until his retirement.
Charles was a Mason and a member of the NRA. Charles enjoyed fishing and hunting, playing computer games, and watching old movies on TV.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Lena Phillips Sparks; son, Charles Sparks (Cheri) of Palmdale, CA; daughter Vickie Hoffman of Greers Ferry; brother, Jimmy Sparks, sisters, Virginia Pate (Porter), Margaret Wiggs, and Beatrice Sperry (Jimmy); sister-in-law, Donna Sparks; step mother, Jaunita Sparks; grandchildren, Charles and wife Kara, Jason, Amanda, Paul, Megan and husband Dean, and Logan; great-grandchildren, David and Andrew; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Pallbearers include: Cortland Harper, Chuck Sparks, Robbie Sparks, Jason Sparks, Chris Duggan, Amanda Marez-Sparks, Meagan Smith, Logan Hoffman, Dean Smith, Kenny Wright, Kara Sparks, and Bubba Marez-Sparks (honorary).
Visitation will be held 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at Westside Baptist Church in Greers Ferry. Graveside service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Crossroads Cemetery in Greers Ferry with Pastor James Wiggs officiating. Arrangements by Heber Springs Funeral Home
