CALICO ROCK - Herman Eldred Burgess, 76, of Calico Rock died Monday, Oct. 15, 2007, in Calico Rock.
Born Sept. 17, 1931, in Guion, he was the son of Daniel Webster Burgess and Ollie Rutilla Constant Burgess. He was united in marriage to Imogene Owens on Sept. 1, 1951. After her death he married Maria Roberta Savage. He was employed as a foreman at Unimin Sand in Guion and attended Guion Pentecostal Church.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Harold Burgess of Violet Hill; two daughters, Wonna Guthrie of Melbourne and Patty Conyers of Calico Rock; seven grandchildren, Brad Guthrie, Wendy Brackin, Jennifer Treadway, Eric Burgess, Daniel Conyers, Clayton Conyers and Jessie Conyers; seven great-grandchildren, Brian Selby, Chad Selby, Kaylee Guthrie, Camellia Brackin, Dusty Treadway, Ruger Treadway and Bailey Dunn; and eight stepchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife; two sisters, Violet Vanover and Shirley Corter; and twin great-granddaughters, Kayla Guthrie and Kyla Guthrie.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Reeves Pine Grove Chapel at Reeves Cemetery near Guion with Ray Owens officiating. Burial will be at Reeves Cemetery under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne.
Pallbearers will be Brad Guthrie, Eric Burgess, Billy Treadway, Daniel Conyers, Clayton Conyers, Lynn Pittman and Frankie Haley.
Honorary pallbearers are Billy Engles, Larry Guthrie, J.C. Wallis, Elvin Arnold, Julice Condrey, Charles Williams, Troy McNealey and Larry Vanover.
