David William Beck, son of the late Harry and Leona Pike Beck was born April 16, 1939 in Hewitt, Minnesota. He died on April 30, 2002 in Mount Pleasant. He was 63.
Mr. Beck was united in marriage to Elizabeth Ann Craig on May 13, 1978 in Mount Pleasant.
Beck was raised in Hitchcock, South Dakota. Word brought him to the Midwest where he spent thirty years as a construction supervisor. He had many hobbies, such as, fishing, carving and woodworking. He served in the United States Army during peace time. He was of the Methodist faith.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Beck of the home, one son, Jeff Beck of Kansas City, Missouri; two daughters, Cindy Wrr (sp) of Tipton, Iowa and Lori Smith of Denver, Colorado; two sisters, Mary Beedle of Grand Junction, Colorado; and Rosie Derby of Raped City, South Dakota; one brother, Monty Beck of Rapid City, South Dakota; five grandchildren, Jason, Brad, Jared, Colby and Emily and a host of relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-son, Lee Luttrell; one sister, Sally Beck and one brother, Jerry Beck.
Funeral services were held May 3, 2002 at Roman and Billy Howard Memorial Chapel with Vince Daniel officiating.
Pallbearers were Chan Bailey, Gary Fulbright, Eric Hoffman, Mackey Hightower, Joe Moser and Jerry Sneed. Honorary pallbearers were Ed Fulbright, Joe Fulbright, Bobby Moser, Randall Craig, Tim Edwards, Andy Coleman and the employees of James Cape and Sons Company.
Interment was at Reeves Cemetery under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne.
