Floyd Hicks of Calico Rock, Arkansas
Floyd Hicks, son of the late Charles E. Hicks and Albie Elizabeth Edington Hicks, was born March 17, 1913 (sic) in Calico Rock, Arkansas. He departed this life on March 17, 2013 in Calico Rock, Arkansas at the age of 96. He spent his life as a son, brother, nephew, husband, uncle, father, grandfather, provider and friend. In the early 1930's, Floyd was one of the earliest members of the Civilian Conservation Corps in Arkansas. During his working years, he was employed as a postal employee in Crawfordsville, Indiana. He was united in marriage to Flora Sanders on February 20, 1937 in Rodney, Arkansas and to this union two daughters were born. He was of the Methodist faith and a member of the Calico Rock United Methodist Church.
He is survived by two daughters and two sons-in-law: Mary K. and Andrew Kollman of Willard, Ohio and Judy and Steven McCay of Canton, Georgia; one sister: Jessie Majors of Calico Rock; four grandsons: Mark Kollman, Matthew Kollman, Jonathan McCay and Neil McCay; eight great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and many good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 75 years: Flora Hicks; and two brothers: Carroll Hicks and George Hicks.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, March 20 at 11:00 a.m. at Calico Rock Funeral Chapel with Reverend Mike Smith officiating. Burial will be at Pineville Cemetery under the direction of Eddie’s Family Funeral Home; Visitation will be Wednesday, March 20 beginning at 10:00 a.m.
