Gene Earl Rogers, age 77, passed away Friday, September 18, 2009.

He was born September 18, 1932 in Amarillo, Texas to Howard and Louise (Kuhner) Rogers.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Louise, and one brother Ralph Rogers of Viola, Arkansas.

Gene was a member of the First Baptist Church in Viola, and the Masonic Lodge of Viola. He retired after working for over 32 years for the Soil Conservation Service. He is retired from the Army National Guard and the United States Air Force. He enjoyed hunting, woodworking, and gardening. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years Margaret (Felts) Rogers, of Marshall, Arkansas, three sons: Dennis Cherry of Viola, Arkansas, Jeff Rogers of Marshall, Arkansas, and Lee and wife Sheila Rogers of Conway, Arkansas, one brother: Charles and wife LaDonna Rogers of Northridge, California, sister-in-law: Willie Rogers of Viola, Arkansas, Grand-children: Cass and wife Tracy Cherry, Jessica Gene Walker both of Viola, Arkansas, Ian Cherry of Searcy, Arkansas, Laci Rogers of Tallahassee, Florida, Matthew Rogers of Calico Rock, Arkansas, Lindsey Rogers of St. Joe, Arkansas, Jacob Rogers and Jordan Rogers both of Conway, Arkansas, six great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Arrangments were by: Roller-Coffman Chapel in Marshall, Arkansas. Funeral services were at the First Baptist Church in Viola, Arkansas. Burial was in the Viola Cemetery.
