HOT SPRINGS — Catherine Elizabeth Bell Boyd, 96, of Hot Springs died March 21, 2005, at her home. She was born March 14, 1909, in Marshall, Mo., to Lida Renick and Thomas Edward Bell. She was a graduate of Northeastern Teachers College in Tahlequah, Okla., and John Brown University in Siloam Springs. She taught school in Siloam Springs and was active in many civic efforts in Siloam Springs. She was a charter member of Nesika Fortnightly and the hospital auxiliary in Siloam Springs and was a member of the Siloam Springs Library Board and was a lifetime member of the First Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ryland Samuel Boyd and one daughter Catherine Sue Boyd Devero.
Survivors include one daughter, Helen Selig and husband John of Hot Springs; her grandchildren, Dr. Sarah Carrier and husband Mark of Piney Flats, Tenn., Phillip Devero and wife Natalie of Dallas, John Mark Selig and wife Jeannie Fetting of Benton, Greg Devero and wife Megan of Somerville, N.J., Scott Selig and wife Kristen of Durham, N.C., Michael Selig and wife Susan Kim of Venice, Calif., and Edward Devero and wife Susan of Fort Smith; 17 great-grandchildren.
She donated her body to the University of Arkansas Medical School.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. March 31 at the First Presbyterian Church in Siloam Springs. The family requests contributions be made to Habitat for Humanity in Hot Springs or First Presbyterian Church in Siloam Springs.
