BENTONVILLE — Peggy Jean Banks was born Aug. 7, 1921, to Raymond and Mary Bryan. She passed away on Dec. 31, 2012, in Bentonville,

She lived in Bentonville, Ark., for most of her life except for brief periods when she was school age and moved with her mother away from Bentonville, but always returning after short absences. She married Harold Banks when she was 18 years old and they were husband and wife for over 60 years until his death in 2000. She was a true native to Bentonville and her life was centered around her family and the community she loved. She was destined to live her life in Bentonville, the only place where she ever wanted to live.

Peggy is survived by one brother, Joe Bryan of Bentonville, Ark.; two sons, Randy Banks and his wife, Sue Ann Banks, and Bryan Banks and his wife, Donna Ranks, all of Bentonville, Ark. She is also survived by two granddaughters, Elizabeth Davis of Conway, Ark., and Rebecca Beal of Kansas City, Mo. Also, she has five great-granddaughters, Madalyne, Haylee and Abigail Davis and Caroline, and the latest, Libby Bryan Beal.

She had a group of lifelong friends who also grew up in Bentonville and formed a special bond that lasted throughout their lifetimes. Her father died at an early age from TB that he contracted in his service during WWI and then she lived her formative years during the Great Depression with much of this time in her grandparents', Kit and Elizabeth Campbell, home in Bentonville. Both of these factors affected her life in significant ways, but she had a good sense of humor that stayed with her until her final days.

She saw a world that changed from a time when people still rode in horsedrawn wagons to having space travel and a world filled with computers. But one thing that never changed was the love for her town, Bentonville. Ark.

A visitation will be held at the Callison-Lough Funeral Home in Bentonville on Thursday, Jan. 3, from 1 to 2:30 p.m.
