WEST, Martha Ann POMBY - Died, May 11th, 1912 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. G.C. Davis, Mrs. Martha Ann Pomby West, in the seventy-eighth year of her age. Deceased was born Oct. 8th, 1834 in Georgia. Was united in marriage with Augustus A. West October 1848. Their first home was in Wedowee, Ala. In 1873 they came to Bentonville, Ark. and for fourteen years lived on their farm one and one-half miles east of Bentonville. In 1887 they moved to Rally Hill, Ark. In 1894 they returned to Wedowee and from there to Ozark, Mo., her home at the time of her death. Desiring to be in the home and under the tender care of her beloved daughter, Mrs. G.C. Davis, she was kindly welcomed and lovingly nursed and cared for until the end came. She formerly held membership in the M.E. church but had not been in active relationship with the church for several years. She is survived by four worthy sons, one daughter, a number of amiable grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Her husband, two sons and a daughter had gone before. A goodly number attended the funeral service at the Davis residence, in respect for the dead and in sympathy with the bereaved. The remains were laid to rest in the family lot in the City Cemetery. May the peace which the Lord Jesus alone can give rest upon every sorrowing heart. P. Carnahan.
