Herman Everett Smith the son of Everett Herman Smith and Verdna Lou (Bailey) Smith. Mary Jean (Ogilvie) Smith the daughter of Silas King Ogilvie and Mary Sue (Hutchison) Ogilvie.


MELBOURNE Herman Everett Smith, 64, of Mount Pleasant died Monday, Dec. 30, 2002, at his home.

Born Oct. 1, 1938, at El Paso, he was the son of Everett Herman Smith and Verdna Lou Bailey Smith.

He was in the U.S. Navy and of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Jean Ogilvie Smith; a son, Daniel Everett Smith of Batesville; a daughter, Leah Jean Edwards of Melbourne; a sister, Patsy Lou Evans of El Paso; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Mount Pleasant with Lee Cording officiating.

Burial will be in Barren Fork Cemetery at Mount Pleasant with arrangements by Howard Funeral Home of Melbourne.

Pallbearers will be Michael Ogilvie, Jamie Kelley, Wayne Dockins, Tojo Massey, Robert Reedy and Shayne Edwards.
