ANDERSON, A.J. - Died, July 21, 1910 at his residence in Bentonville, Ark., A.J. Anderson in the fifty-second year of his age. Deceased was born in Drammon, Norway Feb. 7th, 1849, came to America with his parents in 1853. This was before the day of steamships and they were all summer on the voyage. They settled first near Milwaukee, Wis., remained there four years and then moved to Minnesota where the remaining part of the family still reside. He was confirmed in the Lutheran Church when seventeen years of age. In 1881 he united with the Congregational Church. In the town where he lived the Congregational Church was united with the Presbyterian Church. In the united church he was elected and ordained a ruling elder, which office he filled until he left that country. Six years ago he came with his family to Bentonville, Ark. and united with the C.P. Church. In the union of the C.P. Church and the Presbyterian Church he went with the church and was elected and ordained a ruling elder in the united church, which office he filled until his death. Brother Anderson's sojourn with us has been marked with a series of adversity. In the meanwhile he has buried his beloved wife and a son and has suffered serious financial losses and embarrassments. Our whole community can testify to his Christian faith and integrity, his fair and generous dealings with his fellow man and his upright religious life and character. For some time he had realized that his constitution was being slowly undermined by some malignant disease. Finally when told that his recovery was hopeless he began spiritually and temporally to set his house in order for the great reckoning. He said to me: "I probably will not live to make offerings to the different boards of the church as they will come due. I want you to send this offering to the church boards for me and get a receipt for the same." The sum total of that offering was thirty-two {32} dollars. For months his suffering was almost constant and very severe. Two weeks before the end he could take no real nourishment, still he bore it all without murmuring. "In childhood," he said, "I was taught to pray for deliverance from sudden death. I don't know that that was right; it seems best to submit that and every thing else to the will of God." He leaves a son and two daughters to mourn their loss. These dear girls who nursed and cared for their father with such unyielding and undying love and devotion, we commend to the church and all Christian people as worthy of the Christian sympathy and consideration. The funeral service, held at the Presbyterian Church by the writer, assisted by Brothers Baker and Bearden, was well attended. The remains were laid to rest in the City Cemetery by the Odd Fellows, of which order he was an acceptable member. To this fraternity is due the gratitude of the bereft family and all the community, for their assistance rendered in the affliction and bereavement. May the peace which the blessed Christ alone can give rest upon this sorrowing home. P. Carnahan.

ANDERSON, Ellen M. McCLELLAND - Miss Ellen M. McClelland, the subject of this sketch, was born in Wisconsin, Aug. 24, 1855 and died at her home in this city, Feb. 20, 1906. Nov. 12, 1882 she was united in marriage to A.H. Anderson. God blessed this union with five sons and two daughters, four of whom are left to mourn the loss of a loving, devoted mother. In childhood she united with the Congregational church in which she lived until her marriage then she went with her husband into the Presbyterian church, where she lived until God called her. She was a great sufferer for several years but was always patient and cheerful and seemed resigned to the will of the Heavenly Father. Her funeral was conducted by Reverend L.F. Goodwin in the presence of a large crowd of sorrowing friends, after which her body was laid to rest in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, there to await the resurrection of the just. A Friend.
