PRAIRIE GROVE — Jackie W. Sparkman, 68, of Prairie Grove died June 9, 2002, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Fayetteville. He was born May 5, 1934, in Slaton, Texas, to William H. Sparkman and Ida Lee Hoover. He grew up and attended schools in Roswell, N.M. In 1967, he and his family moved to Prairie Grove where he was engaged in stock farming for 35 years. He served in the Navy from 1951-55.

Survivors include his wife, Lena Mae Sparkman of the home; two sons, Jackie W. "Sparkie" and wife Loong and Ralph Chesser and wife Genny, all of Prairie Grove; one daughter, Lelia Hunter and husband Joe of Prairie Grove; five grandchildren; three brothers, Harvey Sparkman of Roswell, Ronnie Sparkman of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Dale Sparkman of Colton, Calif.; two sisters, Naomi Faye Koonce and Joyce McCarty, both of Roswell.

Services will be at 9:30 a.m. today at Prairie Grove Christian Church with Vance Eubanks officiating.

Burial will be in Rose Cemetery under the direction of Luginbuel Funeral Home in Prairie Grove.

Pallbearers will be Gary West, Perry Slaughter, Gilbert Cross, Lynn Mathias, Jackie Hulet and Jimmy Rogers.

Memorials may be made to the Prairie Grove Christian Church, P.O. Box 730, Prairie Grove, 72753.
