THURMAN, William – “Uncle Bill” Thurman Dies at Age of 86 Years – (special to the Democrat) Prairie Grove, Feb. 14. – Funeral services for William Thurman, of Prairie View community, were held Thursday afternoon from the home. Rev. H.G. Johnson of Prairie View officiated. Remains were laid to rest beside his wife in the Rose Graveyard.
“Uncle Bill,” as he was known, was 86 years old May 1st, oldest child of a family of 13, who came from Tennessee in 1852. For 48 years, “Uncle Bill” had lived on the home place. He is survived by three sisters, one brother, and nine children. Four children are buried beside the mother. “Uncle Bill” spent his last days with a daughter, Mrs. Amos Cohea, and has been confined to his bed since March.
