HEBER SPRINGS -- Lucille VanDerGriff, 83, died Friday, March 9, at Golden Living Center of Heber Springs. She was formerly of Pocahontas.
She was born Dec. 8, 1923, in Cardwell, Mo., and was the daughter of the late William and Rose Riddle, formerly of Ravenden Springs.
Mrs. VanDerGriff was preceded in death by her husband, E. Durell VanDerGriff, in 1987.
She is survived by her son, William VanDerGriff Sr. of Searcy; daughter, Alta Anna Rose VanDerGriff of Sacramento, Calif.; grandson, William VanDerGriff Jr. of Killeen, Texas; granddaughters, Rhonda Renee of Ravenden Springs, Helene Michelle Nunn of Hot Springs, Misti Dawn Crow of Citrus, Calif., and Brandi Watford of Sacramento; and 12 grandchildren.
She is also survived by a brother, Ray Riddle of Harrisburg, and three sisters, Wilma Madden of Tyronza, Mildred Knuckles of Harrisburg and Joan Hoald of Memphis.
Also, Mrs. VanDerGriff considered the staff and residents of Golden Living Center of Heber Springs as her family. She was very much loved and cared for during the past three years. She was known to them as "Mom" and "Grandmother."
Visitation will be this afternoon from noon-2 preceding the funeral services which begin at 2 in the chapel of McNabb Funeral Home in Pocahontas. Perry Vandergriff and Carl Massey will officiate. Mrs. VanDerGriff will be buried beside her husband in Masonic Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Gregg Chaffin, Larry Madden, Gary Madden, Norman Brown, Danny Riddle, Eric Vandergriff, James Vandergriff and Mackie McReynolds.
Honorary pallbearers will include Doyle Chaffin, Curtis Vandergriff, Henry Higginbotham and Debbie Marible.
