SILOAM SPRINGS — Nancy E. Randall, 98, of Siloam Springs died Feb. 15, 2005, at Quaker Hill Manor in Kansas. She was born April 5, 1906, in Carterville, Mo., to William Allen and Birdie Bailey Rhoades. She was a graduate of Miami (Okla.) High School and attended NEO A&M College. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest R. Randall, on April 25, 1966. She and her husband owned and operated Randall Tire Service for many years in Miami, Columbus, Kan., and Siloam Springs and farmed in Kansas before moving to Siloam Springs. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Siloam Springs, the United Methodist Women and taught Sunday school for 35 years. She served in various capacities at Siloam Springs Hospital for many years and had served on the hospital board as president and secretary. She was a charter member of the hospital auxiliary. Her volunteer work at the hospital totaled 16,500 hours and in 1993, she was named State Auxilian of the Year.

She was a past member of Siloam Springs Riding Club, the Women's Fortnightly Club, Siloam Springs Museum Association and was active in the Senior Citizen Center. She was the recipient of the National Community Service Award from AARP. She was instrumental in helping establish the Valley Springs Residential Care Home, built in 1996. In January 1997, she was awarded the Pioneer Citizen's Award by the Siloam Springs Chamber of Commerce. Gov. Mike Huckabee later honored her with a congratulatory phone call and an article about her volunteer work in his legislative newsletter.

At age 95, she began knitting children's sweaters for the Guidepost Magazine Sweater Project which distributes sweaters to disaster stricken areas around the world. She completed 17 sweaters.

Survivors include one daughter, Pat Edmondson and husband Stanley of Columbus, Kan.; two granddaughters, Kim Bezinque of Midland, Teams, and Karla Line of Columbia, Mo.; one grandson, Derek Edmondson of Columbus; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Sarah Boothe of Clinton Township, Mich.; nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the First United Methodist Church in Siloam Springs with the Rev. David Bush and the Rev. Curt Bezinque officiating.

Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery under the direction of Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home in Siloam Springs.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church or Siloam Springs Hospital Auxiliary.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time today at the church.
