SILOAM SPRINGS — Charles Austin Morrison Sr., 89, of Siloam Springs died Nov. 26, 1999, in Siloam Springs. He was born Oct. 9, 1910, in Paducah, Ky., to William H. and Bessie Wagner Morrison. He was reared and educated in Arkansas but left during the Depression and settled in New England. He owned a restaurant in Duxbury, Maine, and was a real estate agent until he retired.

He lived in Maryland and Florida before moving to Siloam Springs in 1979.

He was a member of the First Christian Church and worked on many civic projects, including the restoration of Oak Hill Cemetery, which in 1996 was declared a national historic site.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Beulah Jackson in 1991.

Survivors include two sons, Charles A. Harrison Jr., of Brooklyn, Conn., and Lee J. Morrison of Raleigh, N.C.; three sisters, Vivian Hamm of Overland Park, Kan., Margaret Jarrett of McGehee and Joanne Sawyer of Decatur, Ala.; one brother, Jack Morrison of Monks Corner, S.C.; three grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at First Christian Church in Siloam Springs. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Backstrom-Pyratte Funeral Home in Siloam Springs.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Christian Church.
