Alice Lillian Hughes was the daughter of Rev John Jasper Hughes and Martha Jane White Hughes. She was born in Dadeville, Tallapoosa County, Alabama. She married Thomas Oscar Black, Sr 11 December, 1887 in Clark County, Arkansas. He was kicked by a mule (he was a blacksmith in Rock Creek, Arkansas) and died on 09 Nov, 1902. Thomas Oscar Black, Jr, was born two weeks later on Nov 18, 1902. Alice later married Denny Roberts and spent a lot of time traveling between Gurdon, where her daughter was living and Guymon, Oklahoma where her sons Thomas Oscar Black and Hubert Black lived
Alice had 13 brothers and sisters. Alice and Thomas children were were Ruby Belle Black, Hubert Oscar Black, Clarence Oma Black, Ralph Omega Black, and Thomas Oscar Black, Jr.
