William Lester Cavender, 92, of Little Rock died Saturday (Jan. 26, 2002) in Little Rock.
He was born March 2, 1909, in Quitman, to Frank and Etta Ussery Cavender. Jan. 25, 1931, he married Verlie Owen. He retired from Acklin Ford Paint & Body Shop.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Cecil, Lawrence and Monroe; and one sister, Gladys Lee.
He is survived by his loving wife, Verlie Owen Cavender; three sons, Lester Owen Cavender of Santa Fe, Texas, Bill Cavender and his wife Felecia of Beebe, and L.C. Cavender of Little Rock; one sister, Selma Rhodes of Rodeo, Calif.; one brother, Almo Cavender of Roseburg, Ore.; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; and friends and relatives.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway with the Rev. Euel Dean Lester and the Rev. Frank Newton officiating. Burial will be at 1 p.m. at Center Point Cemetery in Quitman.
Pallbearers are Lewis Lackey, Elmer Sims, Joe Cavender, Frank Cavender, Bob Lester and Marshall Smith. Honorary pallbearers are Oscar Gray and Eldon Gray.
