Cory Wayne Hopper, son of the late Sherill McJunkin Funderburk and Wayne Hopper was born July 21, 1978. He departed this life Feb. 17, 2012, in Melbourne in Melbourne Arkansas at the age of 33 years. He was a 1996 graduate of Melbourne High School.
At the time of his death he was employed by Bluebird Sand Company in Mount Pleasant, Arkansas. He was united in marriage to Paula Johnson on Feb. 15, 2008, at the Community Church in Melbourne. He was of the Baptist faith and attended Belview Baptist Church and Dolph Baptist Church.
Cory is survived his wife; a son, Kyson King Hopper of the home; a daughter, Cali Jo Herring of the home; his father: Wayne Hopper and his wife Ann of Melbourne; his stepmother, Ann Hopper of Melbourne; his father, Bob Ramsey and his wife Penny of Melbourne; three brothers, Rick Ramsey, Jamie Ramsey and Devin Ramsey, all of Melbourne; three grandmothers, Glenda Ramsey of Melbourne, Essie Minton of Clovis, N.M., and Mary Hopper of West Helena; an uncle, Steve Hopper of Hot Springs; his in-laws: Bruce Johnson, Kish and Chad Pool, Tammy and Kohl Caraway, Seth Johnson and his wife Leann and Steve Johnson and wife Kelly all of Melbourne: many aunts, uncles, numerous nephews and nieces and a host of other relatives and many good friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother: Sherill Funderburk and maternal grandparents and his paternal grandparents.
Funeral service was Sunday, February 19, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Belview Baptist Church with Raymon Carneal officiating. Burial was in Old Philadelphia Cemetery under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne.
Pallbearers were Seth Webb, Chris Walton, Wade Moore, Barry Marlin, Anthony Howard and Clint Mickle.
Honorary pallbearers were Sanders Lee Wyatt, Chad Pool, Austin Pool, Braden Pool, Kohl Caraway, Seth Johnson, Steve Johnson, Devin Ramsey, Jamie Ramsey, Rick Ramsey, Jose Callejas and Nathan Duren.
