Mavis Fitzgerald, 101½, passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2013, in Fort Smith.
She was born Nov. 30, 1911, in Ratcliff in Franklin County to John Franklin Law and Laura Ethel O'Neal Law.
She married Alfred Fitzgerald on Nov. 29, 1933, in Charleston, where they resided for many years before moving to Fort Smith in 1959. She was employed by Smith's Furniture for 18 years before retiring in 1970. She was an active member of Oak Cliff Baptist Church in Fort Smith and a member of the Order of Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one sister, five brothers and a daughter, Frances Flowers.
Service will be 10 a.m. Friday at Oak Cliff Baptist Church in Fort Smith with interment at Garden of Memories in Charleston under the direction of Smith Mortuary in Charleston.
She is survived by one granddaughter, Kathy Merriot and husband Dale of Shady Shores, Texas; one grandson, Byron Flowers of Amarillo, Texas; one great-grandson, Justin Merriot of Shady Shores; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Darrell Taylor, Tom Sallis, Don Spradling, Jimmy Cox, Bill Inkleberger and Matthew Judkins.
