FERGUSON, George Tuttle - Just before going to press yesterday a telegram was received stating that Geo. Ferguson, eldest son of Capt. James Ferguson of this city, was killed in a Wabash railroad wreck that morning near Moberly, Missouri. No particulars have been received.

The remains of Geo. T. Ferguson, whose death in a railroad wreck was mentioned by us last week, arrived Friday night in charge of a committee of Brotherhood of Brakemen of which organization he was a member. The funeral took place at St. Paul's Church at 10 a.m. Saturday in the presence of a large concourse of people, Rev. J.J. Vaulx conducting the services. He was buried in Evergreen Cemetery. This death is one of the most shocking that has ever occurred here and the sympathy of all our people goes out to the grief stricken family. The particulars of his unfortunate death are about as follows: He had been engaged with H.D. Perkey at the St. Joe Exposition and after the burning of the car works had started home. At the time he was asleep in the caboose of a freight train on the Wabash which became detached into two sections. As the hindmost section slowed up it was run into by another train, shattering the caboose and killing Geo. Ferguson. No other person was hurt. It was so foggy that the train men could not see the train in front until it was too late.

George Tuttle, first-born son of Jas. A. and Nannie Ferguson, was buried from St. Paul's Church Sept. 21, 1889. He was born July 21, 1869; regenerated in Holy Baptism Sept. 1, 1872; entered into Life Eternal Sept. 19, 1889 and his body was committed to the ground Sept. 21, 1889. George was warm-hearted, genial and generous to a fault. Without a moment's warning he was called from this world to the life beyond. My heart and the heart of this whole people deeply sympathize with his doting father and mother and his loving sister and brothers in their great grief. But we sorrow not as those who have no hope. George Ferguson, a young man of Fayetteville who had a bright future before him, was killed in a train wreck near Brunswick, Mo. Thursday, Sept. 19. The wreck was caused by one train running into the caboose of another train. Young Ferguson was buried at Fayetteville last Saturday.
