Luella Alzora Gilkerson was born Oct. 24, 1859 at Sullivan, Ind. and died Jan. 2, 1929 at Vaughn, Ark. where she has lived for several years, having moved there from Rogers. She was 69 years, two months and 19 days old. She was united in marriage to Sampson 0. Hinds at Battle Creek, Kan. March 27, 1879. To this union 4 children were born: Mrs. Josephine Ellett of Marshfield, Mo.; Frank J. Hinds, Sapulpa, Okla.; Homer C. Hinds, Monett, Mo.; and Alta Alexander, who died at Huntington, W. Va. 5 years ago. Sampson 0. Hinds died at Muskogee Aug. 15, 1895 and soon after the family moved to Rogers which was the home of her father, James M. Gilkerson and a sister, Mrs. J.H. Rackerby. On May 14, 1901 she was married to Willis B. Miller at Little Rock. They have made their home in and around Rogers until the time of her death. Before her affliction 8 years ago she was an active member of the church, as were her parents who donated the ground where the First M.E. church now stands. She will be remembered best as occupying a place in the choir and was at her best in that capacity. Mrs. Miller was well known in Eastern Star work, having been a charter member of Martha Chapter, the Rogers lodge, and a Past Worthy Matron. Mrs. Miller was loved and respected by all who knew her and during the past several years when she was confined to her home and then her chair, she was an example of patience and endurance and bore nobly the years of suffering. Through it all her mind remained keenly active and almost until the hour of her death she spoke of her friends, calling them by name and directed the affairs about her home. Hers was an exemplary life and the dear ones she leaves behind console themselves with the fact that she is now in a home where suffering in unknown and sorrow never comes. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Central Methodist church, Rogers, conducted by Rev. R.L. Selle, pastor of the First Methodist church, after which the remains were buried in the Rogers cemetery beside her sisters, Mrs. J.H. Rackerby and Mrs. J.H. Hartley, who lived at Monett for several years, later making her home here, as she requested before she died.

MILLER, Luella Alzora GILKERSON Hinds - Mrs. Luella Miller, wife of Willis Miller, died at the home near Vaughn Wednesday, January 2, 1929 at the age of 69 years. She had been in ill health for many years. Funeral services were held at the Central M.E. Church in Rogers Monday afternoon. Besides her husband she is survived by two sons and a daughter by a previous marriage. Mr. and Mrs. Miller were married in Little Rock in 1901 and moved to Rogers a few years later. Two years ago they traded their property there for a farm near Vaughn where they have since lived. She was an active member in church and Eastern Star work. Many years ago her parents gave the ground for the site of the first M.E. Church in that city.

{from New Hope} Charles Martin and wife attended the funeral of their old friend and neighbor, Mrs. Willis Miller, Monday afternoon which was held at the Central Methodist church at Rogers.
