MILLIGAN, Joseph - Joseph Milligan died Sunday at his home on South Fourth street at the age of sixty-nine years. Mr. Milligan has been in poor health for three years, the result of a bad fall. Owing to his advanced age and weakness an operation could not be performed to relieve him and dropsy resulted which caused his death. He had been failing rapidly for some time and his death came as no surprise to the family. Funeral services were held at the residence Monday afternoon at two o'clock and were conducted by Rev. Goodwin, pastor of the C.P. church. Mr. Milligan was born March 24, 1836 in Green county, East Tennessee. In 1856 he was married to Miss Rebecca McDonald, who survives him. There are seven children still living: Mrs. Gertie Martin of Rogers; Mrs. John L. Troutt, west of Bentonville; Mrs. Dr. Plumlee of Bethpage, Mo.; J.A. Milligan, Little Rock; Dr. W.S. Milligan, Miami, I.T.; Lon Milligan, Bethpage, Mo.; Chas. Milligan of Rogers. Mr. Milligan came to Rogers in 1882 and was therefore one of our first citizens. He has always had a large circle of friends and acquaintances by whom he was held in the highest esteem for his many valuable qualities. He had always taken an active interest in the welfare of Rogers and although his physical infirmities kept him close at home the last few years, he kept in close touch with local affairs. The family have the sympathy of the entire community in their great loss.
