HORSESHOE BEND — Lotus Thomas, 82, died Friday, Jan. 28, 2011, in Horseshoe Bend.
Born March 16, 1928, in Hickory Flat, he was the son of Owen and Martha Herron Thomas. He was united in marriage to Wilma Harmon on Oct. 4, 1948, in Franklin. He was a heavy equipment operator in the construction industry. He was of the Church of Christ faith.
Survivors include two sons, Kerry Wayne Thomas of Salem and Jerry Thomas of Sedgwick; a daughter, Kathy Morgan of Myron; two brothers, Clyde Thomas and Oscar Thomas, both of Washington; four grandchildren, Chris Thomas, Stacey Thomas, Kristy Thomas and Alexis Goodson; and three great-grandchildren, Cody Thomas, Barbara Delaney Thomas and Olivia Goodson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 62 years, Wilma Thomas; and two brothers, Ray Thomas and Thaddeus Thomas.
The funeral was at 11 a.m. today at Howard Memorial Chapel in Melbourne with Stuart Jones officiating. Burial was in Roberts Cemetery under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Dale Godwin, Dowl Godwin, Stacey Thomas, Chris Thomas, Van Thomas and Jeff Pruitt.
Honorary pallbearers were Kennard Billingsley, Charles "Burl" Thomas and Cody Thomas.
