SILOAM SPRINGS — Kenneth Michael McEnroe, 81, of Siloam Springs died Feb. 27, 2006, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville. He was born Sept. 25, 1924, in Hull-Daisetta, Texas, to Patrick John McEnroe Sr. and Emma Ferrell McEnroe. He had been a resident of Siloam Springs since 1965.

He attended Texas A&M University and earned a B.S. degree and D.V.M. degree. He was a licensed veterinarian in Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas. He held several positions with the USDA from 1954 until 1973; circuit supervisor, poultry inspection division, Waco, Texas; regional director, poultry inspection division in Dallas; deputy administrator, agricultural marketing service; director, poultry inspection and meat inspection divisions, Washington, D.C.; and administrator, meat and poultry inspection service; associate administrator, animal and plant health inspection service, Washington, D.C. He had been a consultant for Simmons Industries, Peterson Industries and George's Inc and had served as executive vice president of George's Inc from 1972-1981. From 1981 to 1988, he was veterinarian in charge for the USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service Area, Jackson, Miss, and Oklahoma City. He was a member of the American Veterinary Association and had served on the board of the Arkansas Livestock and Poultry Commission and the National Broiler Council. He was recognized by the Arkansas Poultry Federation as Man of the Year in 1975 and with a Presidential Citation from President Lyndon. B. Johnson for outstanding service in the USDA in 1965. He was named in Who's Who in American Government in 1971-72.

He was CEO of Arkansas Surgical Supply and owner of Agri-Business Consultants in Siloam Springs.

He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II in the South Pacific Theater. He was a 50-year member of Siloam Springs Masonic Lodge 7, F&AM and a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Gloria of the home; three daughters, Cathi Coleman and husband Bob of Siloam Springs, Dena Dickinson and husband Gary of Siloam Springs and Jamie Henderson and husband Jackie of Siloam Springs; one brother, Patrick John McEnroe Jr of Victoria, Texas; one sister, Lola Lee "Cissy" Edling of Siloam Springs; five grandchildren.
