Jordan, Robert S - Another death of a soldier boy at Fort Deming, N M , the result of pneumonia, is reported; information being received Tuesday in a message from J W Dodson to Miss Mimi Steward of this city. This was Robert Jordan of Siloam Springs, a splendid young man who was a very intimate friend of Miss Steward. So there must be martial music again, the firing squad and a soldier's burial. In the sadness and grief of the bereaved ones all unite in offering sympathy.

Deming, N M , Jan. 23.- Perhaps the most regrettable thing that has befallen Co B, 2nd Ark Infantry, was the loss of our comrade Robert S Jordan, who passed away Jan 16, 1917 at 11 o'clock in the Base hospital, the result of pneumonia. "Bob" was taken ill on the 5th and was removed to the hospital where every effort was exerted in his behalf. Monday it was believed that he had passed the critical period, he seemed somewhat renewed, but a sudden relapse Tuesday morning could not be resisted by his weakened vitality. Robert leaves a place of love and respect in the hearts of all who knew him and as in death there were naught but words of admiration for him in his sojourn here. He will be missed by all who had pleasure of knowing him even for so short a while. The Regiment lost a valuable man in Jordan, ever attentive to duty and patriotic in heart. He often expressed his readiness to give his life in his flag's name, should he be called. But he has already answered the final "Roll call" and entered his long furlough into eternity. His mother arrived Sunday and was near his side during his failing hours. His friends here did what little they could to show their respect for Bob and Monday night gave him a bouquet of carnations. Later his company, together with his co-workers in the Post-exchange had a beautiful wreath made in military design, bearing the inscription "To a Comrade"; this to await his body in Siloam Springs. Capt Parsons escorted Co B for the marshal ceremony; Chaplain Blakeney conducted a brief and comforting service in the undertaking hall and the procession escorted the corpse to the station. His squad acted as pallbearers and the 2nd Ark Band rendered the "Dead March." A firing squad discharged three volleys over his body and a corps of musicians slowly sounded "Taps." As the casket was placed in the baggage car the band played "Nearer My God to Thee" and the company stood at "present arms." Thus we said farewell to Robert Jordan and his body was started back to Arkansas, the state he loved so well. The sincere sympathy of all here is offered those elsewhere, who join us in grieving the loss of Robert Jordan, a soldier and a prince.
