Charles Edward Hayes, 70, of Cabot went home to be with his Lord on July 14, 2011. He was born on September 29, 1940, in Wilburn, Arkansas.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Joyce; daughter, Carla Garland and her husband, Jerry; son, Kelly Hayes and his wife, Jo Ellen; grandchildren, Alex and Haylee Garland, Callie Granderson, and Mason Hayes; three brothers, Steve Hayes, Sherrill Hayes, and Ricky Hayes; and one sister, Kay Taylor.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Ruth Hayes; and a brother, Russell Hayes.
Mr. Hayes worked as a self employed dental technician for over 30 years. He loved spending time at the cabin located on his parents' home place in Wilburn. A devoted grandfather, Granddad will be greatly missed by his grandchildren.
Mr. Hayes dedicated his adult life to furthering the gospel of Jesus Christ. Over the years, he taught all ages in church from preschoolers to senior adults. Upon retirement, he served as a missionary for eighteen months in Sao Paulo, Brazil, through the Masters program of the International Mission Board. In recent years, he purchased and distributed hundreds of New Testaments and shared his faith with others at every opportunity. He was a member of First Baptist Church Cabot.
