Mrs. Karen Arlene Johnson, age 43, of Heber Springs, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, November 8, 2006 in Heber Springs. Born in Danville, Illinois, on December 29, 1962, she was the daughter of Jessie Lea (Nicholson) Whorrall and the late James Franklin Whorrall.

Karen had been a resident of Heber Springs since 1966. She was a homemaker, and her religious belief was Southern Baptist. Karen was preceded in death by her father and her grandparents.

She is survived by her husband, Jim Johnson of Heber Springs; one son, James David Ratley of Concord; one stepdaughter, Heather Johnson Willborg of Rose Bud; her mother, Jessie Lea Whorrall of Heber Springs; one brother, Gary Whorrall of Desha; one sister, Shirley Brown of Dowagiac, Michigan; and two grandchildren. Karen is also survived by other relatives and her many friends.

From The SunTimes Newspaper:

Karen Johnson, 43, of Heber Springs, was found dead around 7:14 a.m. Wednesday in a pond east of Heber Springs. Sergeant Kim Bettis with the Cleburne County Sheriff's Department said, "She left Club House Drive and it appears she drove the 1994 Ford Explorer into the pond. It appears she exited her vehicle and died from an apparent drowning."
