Kate H. Magness, daughter of the late Sam and Loucrecy (Foust) Southerland, passed away Saturday, December 6, 2003 at Heber Springs, Arkansas. Born January 22, 1915 at Wilburn, Arkansas, she was 88 years of age. She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, David Franklin (Bud) Magness, 3 sisters, and 2 brothers. Kate was a loving mother and homemaker, a resident of Cleburne County all of her life, and a member of Heber Springs General Baptist Church. Survivors are daughters, Cleta Tubbs and Carolyn Cox, both of Heber springs, Arkansas, and Emmalou Ledbetter of Searcy, Arkansas, 2 sisters, Ruth Martin of Pleasant Plains, Arkansas and Naomi Stratton of Jackson, Michigan, 1 brother, Clinton Southerland of Searcy, Arkansas, 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. Mrs. Magness is also survived by other relatives and many friends.
