James Douglas Mhoon, 62, lifelong resident of Fayetteville, died May 19 in Sparks Memorial Hospital in Fort Smith. Born Dec. 31, 1915, at Fayetteville, he was the son of Flint and Esther Douglas Mhoon and a member of Ridgeview Baptist Church. He was formerly co-owner of Mhoon Beef Co. in Fayetteville, an Air Force veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion Shelton-Tucker Post.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Martha Faubus Mhoon of the home; one son, Jim Mhoon of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Linda Shepherd of West Ford; his father of Fayetteville; one brother, Robert Mhoon of Fayetteville; and two grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Moore's Chapel, Fayetteville, with the Rev. Galen Lassiter and the Rev. Lester Fletcher officiating. Burial will be in Round Mountain Cemetery under the direction of Moore's.

Pallbearers will be Billy Mills, Harold Smith, David Clark, Jerry Rogers, Jake Drake and Ottis Watson.

FAYETTEVILLE — Martha Juanita Faubus Mhoon, 84, of Fayetteville died Sept. 10, 2006. She was born Oct. 9, 1921, to Lon and Clara Faubus. She was owner of Mhoon Beef Co. for many years and later worked for the University of Arkinsas dining hall services. She was a lifetime member of Ridgeview Baptist Church in Fayetteville. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Douglas Mhoon, and daughter, Linda Mhoon Shepherd Pershall.

Survivors include one son, Jim Mhoon of Fayetteville; two granddaughters, Robyn Attott and husband Bill of Springfield, Mo., and Rhonda Stone and husband Scott of Prairie Grove; one brother, Roy Faubus of Fayetteville, one sister, Vivian Hancock of Farmington; five great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Beard's Funeral Chapel in Fayetteville, online at www.beardsfuneralchapel.com. Burial will follow in Round Mountain Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
