Sep 13, 1929 – Izard County Citizen Passes Away
William H. Langston was born in Izard County, Arkansas, February 24, 1865, where he lived out his entire life. He was joined in holly wedlock to Miss Amanda Wiseman, Nov 26, 1891.
They lived happily together until death separated them. There were four children born to this union, H. L. Langston, L. L. Langston, E. L. Langston and Mrs Vester Rogers all of Wiseman, Ark.
Bro. Langston professed faith in Christ Sep 1904 and lived a concentrated life until the end.
He was only known by all who knew him to be a man of good moral Christian character. Many times have we visited him during his sickness and he always wanted his conversations to be on the Bible. He gave all evidence of a living faith in his Redeemer. He was looked upon, by all who knew him as one of Izard County’s best citizens. He was an honest and upright man in all of his business.
We do not hesitate to say that Bro. Langston has gone to make his abode with God and Angels, for the last time we had a talk with him we are sure he was traveling that way.
His broken hearted widow has lost a true companion, his children a faithful father and his town and country a true and loyal citizen. His children and their friends worked faithfully to the end and did all that could have been done for him. They consolidated all their efforts as long as there was any life to work with.
He is survived by his widow and four children, two brothers, Albert Langston of Salem and John Langston of Morriston and one sister, Mrs Rodice Taylor of Porter, Oklahoma and by twelve grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
He suffered long in his sickness but he bore it all with untiring patience until death, the unwelcome visitor entered his home on September 7, and quietly separated his soul from his body and left his body there with the word “decay” written upon his forehead and his soul returned to God who gave it, making him 46 years, 6 months and 11 days old.
After a short funeral service conducted by the writer on Sept. 8, we laid his remains to rest in the Wiseman Cemetery. ----- L. R. Ruble
