William (Bill) G. Connor,JR, age 70, of Tumbling Shoals, Arkansas, formerly of Pekin, Illinois, passed away March 18, 2008 at his residence. He was born June 13, 1937, in Tichnor, Arkansas to the late William Connor, Sr. and Roselyn Vanhorn Connor of St. Charles, Arkansas. He was Korean War Veteran serving his country for six years in the US Army. He was a self-employed carpenter and was widely known in the Heber Springs area as the "House Doctor." William also lived for many years in Pekin, Illinois where he owned and operated his maintenance, lawncare and pest control company before moving to Heber Springs in 1989.
He was a member of Leonard Stark VFW Post #3543 in Tumbling Shoals and a member of the American Legion Post #64 of Heber Springs. He was a regular visitor to the Smoke House Restaurant Coffee Shop table where he made many friends. William loved his family and was a proud grandfather and great-grandfather.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Alvenia Heigle Connor ; his mother, Roselyn Vanhorn Connor of Dewitt, Arkansas ; three sons, Matthew Connor of Collinsville, Illinois; Michael (Cheri) Connor of Jerome, Michigan and Mark (Kim) Connor of Peoria, Illinois; two daughters, Teri Rigdon of Pekin, Illinois and Debi (Kerry)Grossweiller of Raleigh, North Carolina; three step-children, Donna (Larry) Seymore of Tumbling Shoals, Arkansas, Jimmy (Trish) Johnson of Pekin, Illinois and Cindy(Scott) Ivener of Pekin, Illinois; two sisters, Rita (Jim) Stevenson of Dewitt, Arkansas and Dorothy Bishop of St. Charles, Arkansas; twenty two grandchildren, one great grandchild and many friends.
In addition to his father , William Connor, Sr., William was preceded in death by a brother,Glennwood Connor and a great-grandchild, Aiden Clark.
