MORRIS, Elmer - Elmer Morris, son of Mrs. C.D. Morris of this city, died last Thursday afternoon at three o'clock at Tucson, Arizona while on his way home. It was known that he had started home several days previous from the Arizona point where he had been spending the winter and the relatives here had been expecting him home that day. When he reached Tucson he was so weak that he was taken from the train to the hospital where he rapidly continued to grow worse. Mrs. Morris received a telegram during the day asking that she start at once for Tucson but before train time another was received bearing the sad news of his death. Mark Morris, who had gone to Dallas to meet his brother, made arrangements to have the body prepared and forwarded to Rogers for interment beside the graves of his father and sister. The body arrived Tuesday and the funeral was held at the Morris home Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock, being conducted by Rev. Nelson. The deceased was born at Stewart, Iowa April 29, 1879 and had lived in Kansas City and other places with his parents. He was educated in Kansas City where he was a prominent athlete and gave promise of making a splendid young business man. He was not so well known in Rogers as the other members of the family, having spent but a part of a year here some six years ago, although he visited here for short times. Since he began his determined fight against the ravages of tubercular trouble he has been living in Colorado and Arizona. Mrs. Morris spent last summer in Colorado with him and was preparing to go there again soon. It is the third death in the family since they came to Rogers some seven years ago and the bereaved mother has the deepest sympathy of the entire community in her hour of bereavement.
