James Lee Grant, age 84, of Heber Springs, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, December 24, 2008, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas. Born in Heber Springs on August 30, 1924, he was the son of the late Charles Russell and Mary (Hall) Grant.

Mr. Grant was a retired painting contractor. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Navy. Mr. Grant was a member of both the V.F.W. and the American Legion and was a Past Commander of the V.F.W., having served for three years. He was a longtime resident of Heber Springs and enjoyed fishing. Mr. Grant was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Ronnie Grant.

Mr. Grant is survived by his wife, Frances Grant of Heber Springs; one son, Glenn Grant of Hemet, California; one daughter, Norma Grant of Colorado Springs, Colorado; three brothers; two sisters; five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Mr. Grant is also survived by other relatives and his many friends.

Visitation will be held Saturday, Dec. 27, from 12:00-6:00 p.m. at Olmstead Funeral Home. Graveside services and interment will be held Sunday, Dec. 28, at 2:00 p.m. at the Magness Chapel Cemetery with Rev. Mike Lindley officiating. Members of the V.F.W. will serve as pallbearers.
