SPRINGDALE — Vernon Willard Boyd, 99, of Springdale, died October 29, 2009 at Northwest Medical Center in Springdale. He was born September 13, 1910 at Wesley, Arkansas to Virgil and Emma Neal Boyd.

He was a WWII Army veteran serving in Europe. He retired from Arbor Acres after many years of service. He attended Sycamore Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife Nora Bookout Boyd to whom he was married for 53 years, one daughter, Mary Jane Hollaway, one infant son, Hubert Lee Boyd, one grandson, Freddie Wayne Boyd, one granddaughter Sandra Jean Boyd and one great-grandson Will Boyd and his second wife Ravenel Claypool Boyd.

He is survived by two sons; Fred Boyd & wife Gail of Springdale and Kenneth Boyd of Fayetteville, three sisters Marie Wiseman and Gladys Boatright both of Springdale and Edna Hale of WA. Eight grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. Many nieces, nephews and a wide range of friends and special friend Evalena Snow.

Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Monday, November 2, 2009 at Sisco Funeral Chapel of Springdale with Rev. Paul Eden and Pastor Russell Kelly officiating.
Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. Pallbearers are Rick, Roger, Curtis, Scott and Kenneth Boyd and Jeff Dearing. Honorary pallbearers are Jimmy Hollaway, Levi Boyd and Mike Hollaway.
