Johnnie C. Neal, 63, son of William Franklin Neal of Dardnelle and the late Imogene Felton Neal, was born April 27, 1944, in Batesville, Ark. He died Dec. 4, 2007, near Oxford, Ark. In 1968, he was united in marriage to Jeanette Marlow and to this union two children were born. He spent his life as a husband, father and grandpa. At the time of his death, he was retired from logging. He was a member of the Melbourne First Baptist Church.
He is survived by: his wife of 39 years, Jeanette Neal of Brockwell; one son and daughter-in-law, Johnnie A. and Allison Neal of Horseshoe Bend; one daughter, Lynette Savell of Sidney; his father, William Franklin Neal of Dardnelle; one sister, Minnie Simpson of Casa, Ark; one brother, Dickie Neal of Centerville, Ark.; five grandchildren, Trae Savell, Shyenne and Caleb, Chantel Johnson and Adam Johnson; his uncle and aunt, Lowell Dean and Ann Felton; sister-in-law, Betty Neal and her children, Carrie and Connie and their children; and Sandy and Tommy Willhite and a host of other relatives and good friends.
He was preceded in death by: his mother, his brother, "Short" Neal and twin grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Dec. 8 at the Roman and Billy Howard Memorial Chapel in Melbourne with Ricky Burke and Doyne Robertson officiating. Burial followed at LaCrosse Cemetery under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne.
Pallbearers were Dean Hutchins, Howard Pruitt, Jeff Pruitt, Donnie Bookout, Chad Bookout and Darrin Bookout. Honorary Pallbearers were Clovis Vest, Vance Westvang, Lowell Dean Felton, Tommy Willhite, Lee Felton, Dean Felton, Thomas Ward and Rodney Tucker.
