E.H. Bryant Dies Here Friday Night
Our town was made sad Saturday morning when it was announced that E.H. Bryant had died during the night after an illness of only a few hours. Mr. Bryant became ill Thursday evening but there was no thought of his being in a serious condition until a few hours before his death and but few of his friends knew he was really ill. Mr. Bryant came here some 23 years ago and has been one of our most respected and beloved citizens. He was born May 4, 1855 in North Carolina, married July 6, 1879, at Goshen, Arkansas. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Sallie E. Bryant; daughter, Mrs. Earl Bates of Beverly Hills, California; brother, James P. Bryant of Kauffman, Texas; sisters, Mrs. Jane Byrd of Shawnee, Oklahoma and Mrs. Salitha Whittle of Purcell, Oklahoma. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at the Friendship cemetery near Springdale, Ark., and was conducted by Rev. Skillers of that city. Everyone knew Mr. Bryant and feel that we have lost a good man whose place will never be filled. His memory will be held sacred and his life among us as a good Christian gentleman that he was, will always be an example for us all to strive to in the future.
