SPRINGDALE — A.W. Lewis, 90, of Springdale died Dec. 6, 2004, at Springdale. He was born May 5, 1914, in Miami to Wiley and Josie Lewis. He worked for Miami City Transit before moving to Arkansas and retired as an owner/operator driver from Tysons. He was a World War II veteran and a member of Friendship Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Thomas Lewis and one son, Rev. Edmond Lewis.
Survivors include one son, Ken Lewis and wife Cherrill of Magazine; two daughters, JoElla Martini of Springdale and Cheryl Bakewell and husband Jack of Tulsa, Okla.; one daughter-in-law, Freda Lewis of Paris; one niece, Golden H. Lewis of Irwin, Tenn.; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Frierdship Baptist Church in Springdale with Stanton Cram ofriciating. Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Rusty Lewis, David Lewis, Steven Lewis, Jeff Lewis, Christopher Martini and Nicholas Martini.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jake Bakewell, Colin Bakewell, Brenda Lewis Myers and Stephanie Martini.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home in Springdale. The family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m.
Memorials may be made to Friendship Baptist Church, 5395 E. Robinson Ave., Springdale, 72764.
