Mark L. Bufford, Jr., 15, of Heber Springs, was killed in a one-vehicle accident around 7:20 p.m. Saturday.
According to a report by Trooper Brent Bittle with the Arkansas State Police, Bufford was driving a 1998 Ford pickup east on Hiram Road when the he lost control and the truck left the road. The vehicle hit a large tree, according to the report. Bufford was pronounced dead at the scene.
His passengers, Kenny L. Smith, 23, of Ward, and Ritchie J. Matthew, 22, of Little Rock, were transported to Baptist Health in Heber Springs by Wilburn EMS. The extent of their injuries is not known.
