Mary Ida Gee Watkins, 94, of Hamburg died Tuesday, May 24, 2011, at the Stonegate Villa Health and Rehabilitation Center in Crossett. A native and lifelong resident of Hamburg, she was a homemaker and a member of the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.
She is survived by two sons, W.N. "Sonny" Watkins, Jr., and wife Vicky of Denham Springs, LA, and Samuel S. Watkins and wife Toni of Crossett; a daughter, Brenda LaFleur and husband David of Lake Charles, LA; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Norwood Watkins, in 1966; a daughter, Janice Ann Watkins, in 1954; her parents, Samuel and Onie Cannon Gee; and five brothers, S. E., Clifton, L.W., Jack and W.L. "Sully" Gee.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m., Friday, May 27, in the chapel of Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home with Rev. James Morris officiating. Burial was at the Cleveland Cemetery. Pallbearers were Kevin Morris, Michael Watkins, Kyle Watkins, Andre` Watkins, Jack Edward Gee and John Gee. Honorary pallbearers were her nephews.
